The annual Pat Cahill 6K Fun Run & Walk took place recently in Aughrim village. It was a great day of fun for all the family with a free kids race in the park and included free goodie bags & certificates! Registration took place in The Battle of Aughrim Interpretative centre. We are most grateful to Julie Wakefield-Cruise, curator of The Battle of Aughrim interpretative centre for kindly accommodating our charity. We would also like to thank Kenneth Campbell and his team from Running Against Cancer for their assistance and support in organizing the event, they are a wonderful group of people and their help is invaluable. There was also be post race refreshments in the interpretative centre for all participants. The Chernobyl children were there too, including 10 special needs children from Bogushevsk orphanage, and they really enjoyed the experience! We are really grateful for your support and sponsorship which helped to raise much needed funds for our ongoing projects. Thank You.

Chernobyl Anniversary 'Strictly Come Dancing 2014'

Following on from last year's most successful event, Caroline Kelly Dunne from our Dublin Outreach Group once again held a 'Strictly Come Dancing' evening at Kettles Country House Hotel in Swords, Co Dublin. MC on the night was Newstalk & TV3 contributor Andrew McCann, with guest judges Teena Gates of 98fm, Nora Owen, and Senator Darragh O'Brien scoring the points! We thank Caroline and all the dancers who raised €10,000 for our charity, and everyone involved for giving of their time and commitment to what was a wonderful evening. David Welby from 37 Degrees Fitness Gym Loughrea was joined by a group of his gym members when they climbed Croagh Patrick to raise funds for our charity. We thank David and his team for doing this event in aid of The Sunflowers Chernobyl Appeal. The team raised an amazing €1,400 through sponsorship cards and we thank them for their wonderful efforts. All monies raised are going towards purchasing new wheelchairs, walking aids and special floor mats for disabled children at Bogushevsk Orphanage.

A Special Appeal to Help Special Needs Orphans
We are appealing for your help to enable our volunteers to start badly needed humanitarian projects to help 260 special needs children at Bogushevsk orphanage who are the innocent victims of abandonment and neglect. Just now we are focusing our efforts on helping the most severely disabled children who are cot bound since birth and are totally dependent on 24 hour care.

We are delighted to refer you to a very special children's cookbook entitled "Russian To The Kitchen!". The book is filled with traditional Russian recipies and it's author is a 13 year old boy called Alex who was adopted to Ireland and who is dedicating all of the proceeds to The Children Of Russia Fund, a charity set up by adopters in Ireland to help children in Russian orphanages who sadly will never have the chance of adoption.
