Irish Schools Helping Chernobyl Children
School students hold various fundraising events on the anniversary week of the Chernobyl Disaster on the 26th of April 1986. Students become aware of their privileged position in life and learn about the plight of many Chernobyl children, and their combined efforts help to make a huge impact on the lives of the Chernobyl children.
We had a great response from schools last April and indeed throughout the year from schools who held various fundraising events on our behalf. We thank them sincerely on behalf of the Chernobyl children.
You and your school friends can help Chernobyl children in lots of ways; here are some ideas to get you started!
We would be delighted to hear from your school if you would like to help Chernobyl children. We also give talks and show slides of our work. Please contact 090-

Every year we visit primary and secondary schools all over Ireland, and beginning in April we will be giving a talk about our work in Belarus and the ongoing effects of radiation on the Chernobyl children. The talk usually lasts about half an hour and involves a slideshow of our work. It gives you a better understanding of our work in Belarus and the Sunflowers Volunteers will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
If you would like your school to be included in our Roadshow, we would be more than happy to do this.
